My first real patient!

Oh what fun! Today was great! I really had fun. My patient had visable calculus & it was fun to see the difference between before & after I scaled. I didn't get as far as I would like to have but I did get through 1 quad of scaling & didn't have to re-do anything after my scale check. That was exciting. The only drawback is that now I owe my sister-in-law dinner! I'm looking forward to the break and surprisingly I'm looking forward to seeing more patients in Jan. See ya later!

My Mock Patient Day

Well, I picked on Kristi today, WOW, what a day! It felt like I was here forever. It was good to do a full apt from start to finish. I'm feeling a little bit better about Wed. We'll see how that goes!

Mock Patient

Well, today I was Kristi's mock patient. WOW! I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to my turn or not. There is just so much paperwork that takes so much time! I really am looking forward to it becaure I could use the preparation for my first real patient. I'll let you know how it goes on Monday! Until then....Happy Thanksgiving:)

ER Procedures

Gonin over ER Procedures was good today. It was good to learn all the just in case stuff. The only thing that gets me is that we have to take so many steps before we actually start helping the patient. It just seems like it could be done so much more efficiently and quickly. I can understand why only 1 person is in charge of getting all the equipment but by the time she is able to call 911 and then get in to us, the patient has been there for a while. I guess in a real situation things go a little more quickly but still, it seems to take a while. I just hope we never have to see just how long it really takes! See ya on WED!

Sealants

Well... Sealants were fun! It was good to do them, it's been a very long time. I was able to pass off 2 PE's today as well. Yeah! Only 2 left to go! I can't believe how fast this semester has gone. I'm looking forward to a break & I hope the next 3 semesters go as fast. See ya!

Air Powder Polish

Well, what can I say? Today was not exactly fun. I don't enjoy the air powder polish. It was ok to do but not to receive. It makes a big mess & tastes not so good. The hair net was the least of the inconvieniences. It wouldn't be so bad it it wasn't so messy. Oh, well, ya do what ya gotta do! Have a great day!

Sharpening

Well, I was a little nervous about sharpening because I can't afford to ruin any instruments. But it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. As with all things, time & parctice will help. C-ya on Monday!

Floride

Well, we did floride today. 4 whole minutes!! Woah! Today was a good day. I was able to scale full mouth & polish & floss today. I guess that either means that I'm getting better or I'm doing it wrong. Either way, I think I'm getting the hang of it. Just more practice.
P.S. 8 wks. Dr. says June 16th :)

Another Day - Another Clinic

Today was good. It was helpful to do a "full" appointment. It is getting more comfortable to do. I'm starting to enjoy it more. Polishing was good - It's been a couple of months. It is still wierd to me to brush my patients teeth. I'm having a hard time w/ not polishing the full mouth. I just think that if we can provide a better cleaning in the office than brushing, we should. Well, I guess that change gets easier w/ time. We'll see.
